Catching an International Wave: Rossini's 'The Lady of the Lake'

THE INTRO

THE HIT SINGLE:  "O sweet flame"

In the Act Two aria "O Fiamma Soave," King James -- alias Uberto (tenor Juan Diego Florez) -- hopes that he'll soon encounter Elena again, and finally have the chance to declare his love.

THE B SIDE: "So many feelings"

The big moment for Elena (soprano Salome Jicia) comes at the very end of the opera.  When she goes to the royal castle, and the king lives up to his promises by sparing her father and blessing her marriage to Malcolm, she sings of the many emotions all springing from a single moment, in the aria and chorus "Tanti affetti in tal momento."
